There are to many pixels nowadays and to little real human brush strokes. What have you got planned for your practise in 2017?īecause lately I feel more and more the tendency of minimalism towards architecture and interior design, I would really like to launch an auxiliary line of works of art in this direction. I dream that more and more people will see the real value that a work of art brings to their homes. This is what helps my art keep it`s balance. Since then, I permanently try to make them live together: realism and the abstract. The splashed paint and the randomness in witch it fell on the canvas, unchained me. Six years ago, my work was based only on realism, until I received a real challenge: to paint some jazz figures in an abstract way, similar to Jackson Pollocks' art. I always enjoyed a good structured drawing. The painterly quality of your works is beautiful and then overlaid with more street art aspects, tell us about the evolution of this way of working? Every time I experience strong and „colourfull” feelings. Then I`ve experienced mixed feeling of sadness, joy, melancholy and a scent of childhood. Every painting makes me feel in a different way. Four years after my mother died, I started to paint her portrait from a photo. It`s an intimate relationship with the subject.

The process of painting is full of overwhelming feelings. My little girl is the subject present in most of my portrait paintings. What I love most is painting portraits, analysing them, feeling that person`s warmth through my brush. I often choose colourful, expressive and happy subjects like fruits, animals, birds, food, vintage objects, design objects (cherries, strawberries, magnolias, beauty jars, flowers of all kinds, flamingos, Colibri birds, bunnies, sheeps, cupcakes etc). I`m inspired mostly by my own experiences, my life and people dear to me. If I don`t have a commission, I let my mind fly free. What are the key concepts of your works, what do you look at before beginning a piece? I enjoy the part when I establish these aspects with the designer and future owner. It has to fit in there, in perfect harmony. You should consider very carefully the style, the colour, the dimensions and even the subject. Art should be part of that interior design and should be vibrating with it. A work of art shouldn't be placed randomly within a house. I`ve studied it and I think it is fascinating how somebody`s home can express that person. I have a real passion for interior design. I believe in the strong relationship between art and interior design. I think art shouldn't be missing in our homes.

You list your site as ‘Home Decor’ tell us more about that aspect of your work and the commissions you undertake? I think every artists needs time for themselves. I have a studio in my apartment and sometimes I enjoy locking my self in there to be alone with my thoughts and my inspirations. I absolutely love colours and I like being surrounded by beautiful things. I never focused myself in any other direction. My education was through Art Schools, Art High School and University of Art. I`m 29 years old and I`ve been drawing and painting since I was a little girl. Hello, I`m a visual artist living in Bucharest, Romania. Hi Iulia, tell us a bit about yourself and practise as an artist?
